What made you want to work at a Pilates studio: I wanted to work in a place that exuded fitness and serenity at the same time. Having recently moved to the city, finding a place to breathe is important. But I had no idea what a toll my body would take just waiting for the subway everyday! As a performer, I'm always trying to be aware of how my body moves and what my body needs. What I truly need is Pilates!
What is your most memorable experience at Uptown so far: talking with instructors about the importance of self-care and learning their different teaching styles is quickly becoming my favorite experience. Each class is so different and it keeps me on my toes (literally, sometimes!)
Share something about your first Pilates session: It was probably years ago in a YMCA in Oklahoma. I had to take classes in college, which was the beginning of my understanding the importance of core strength and how to use it in my daily life.
What is your favorite exercise or cue that you hear from instructors: "Lower, Upper, Middle" is something Suzanne says in her class. Thinking about that always makes me reconnect with my core and my spine, making me feel stronger in my exercises. Just that has helped my Pilates improve so much!
