Jody Jones has been practicing Pilates for more than 12 years. As a lifelong, avid, long-distance runner, she found Pilates the perfect complement to her sport that brought her whole-body strength and amazing physical awareness -- which enhanced her running career.
Jody began her Pilates instructor training in 2012 at the world-renowned Kane School of Core Integration -- well-known for its intensive study of anatomy, biomechanics, injuries and palpation skills -- hoping to bring the benefits of Pilates to others in her community. She feels especially fulfilled by helping golfers, runners, other athletes and people with injuries and illness-related concerns to heal and grow through developing core strength and improving functional movement. Jody specializes in working with those who have spinal and foot injuries.
As a former media executive with companies such as Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Food Network, she knows what corporate officers and employees experience physically, and can address chronic concerns of those who sit often during the day.
Jody is also focused on healthy eating and living, and has received certifications in holistic and plant-based nutrition through IDEA Health and Fitness Association. Additionally, she studied anatomy extensively through the FAMI (functional anatomy for movement and injuries) program, held in conjunction with the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital's medical education department. Jody graduated from George Mason University with a major in creative writing and a minor in modern dance.
