What made you want to work at a Pilates studio: Truthfully, the job just kind of fell into my lap. At the time I had never done any job too based around fitness needs, or anything so heavily dependent on product quality. So this job has been extremely explorative in regards to my personal physical condition, as well as my attention to detail in every day interactions. It’s those little things, that when consistently fine tuned can change your lifestyle drastically, and not just in the studio.
What is your most memorable experience at Uptown so far: Probably the UP For Ten More Years! 10 year anniversary Pilates expo(let it be known that I thought of the title, thank you very much). It was the moment that it clicked that this is more than a job, but a lifestyle and a passion for my fellow employees. It’s always refreshing to see how invested people are in the practice, clients and instructors alike.
Share something about your first Pilates session: I did a private session with Vehia. It hurt. I think she had to give me a massage at the end. I give the session an 8, and the massage a 10.
What is your favorite exercise or cue that you hear from instructors: I like the tree, because 1.) I’m terrible at it. 2.) I have tight hamstrings so I always think “Maybe by the time I’m done I’ll be able to do the splits”. Still waiting on the splits.
