What made you want to work at a Pilates studio: I have always loved Pilates and thought it would be an amazing way to stay in touch with it after college. My mother is a Pilates instructor so I have been taking her classes from a young age and appreciate what the work does for my body as a dancer. I really enjoy being in fitness-related environments and am always fascinated by the knowledge I continue to learn about body awareness by being in a Pilates studio everyday, with all of the information that gets passed around! It's such a wonderful work atmosphere and I am happy to be a part of the Uptown community!
What is your most memorable experience at Uptown so far: That is hard to say... I have enjoyed both the encouragement and conversation with instructors, as well as getting to know our clients, who all seem to lead very fascinating New York lives!
Share something about your first Pilates session: My first Pilates session I was pretty young, and although I enjoyed it very much, I didn't really come to appreciate the incredible benefits of Pilates until I was a little bit older. That said, I really loved the way I felt both strong and free at the same time. My body felt like it could take on anything, that is, until the soreness kicked in!
What is your favorite exercise or cue that you hear from instructors: I have to say my favorite and most needed cues are, and probably always will be, the breath cues. I often don't think about breathing enough in class and so these cues allow me to get the most out of my workout, keep me healthy, and instantly calm my mind and body!
